Anonymous asked: Why hasn't there been another post? What's happened? I'm worried for the elephants well-being.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have the money to plant a little tracking device in The Elephant, but it’s wandering around out there somewhere. Hopefully, it’s not lost and alone though!
We rely on the Finders to send us photos and if they’d rather not, that’s fine; it’s not a requirement. This just means we can only post pages when we get them.
Our fingers are crossed for some photos soon, though! :)
Unfortunately, most of the people who view this may never find The Elephant, but we’d still like to share as much of its adventure (and of the beauty sure to be found within its pages) as possible!
So, we would really appreciate it if you could please send both sides of the page so we don’t sit here, waiting in suspense. ;)
Do you ever get a brilliant and overwhelming urge to let your creativity free?
To most people, One White Elephant would appear to be just a book. The Elephant is, in fact, much more than that. It’s the draft of a chapter from someone’s first novel, and the first edition of someone’s piece of art; it’s the floorplan of someone’s home, and an entire album of memories stolen from four days of someone’s life. Within the book, you could find an entire world, or just a piece of one.
For the typical not-as-creative-as-I-would-like type, a flourish in their creative instincts is short-lived. Hence, we believe that one little double-sided page should suffice to ease their nagging senses and twitching impulses.
Then there’s the creative-and-artistic-mastermind. For them, this urge is frequent and can be eased in a couple of ways within the pages: they will either find a relaxing five minutes after a long day in which they can share with the world a doodle/sketch/intricate still life, or a challenge that will test their ability to express themselves in such a small amount of space.
Add to the mix the I-can’t-wait-to-oh-look-something-shiny and I’ll-definitely-do-it-…-later types, amongst whom the urge can go unsatisfied for months, and you’ve got a diverse bunch of Finders! The Elephant kindly puts a small single page under each of their noses and brushes their intents with a smudge of desire.
We can only hope that anyone who stumbles across a little black book will allow their curiosity to draw them in because, as much as it’s about being a part of something and spreading beauty and creativity in the world, One White Elephant is ultimately about providing the inspiration to be inspired.
Welcome to One White Elephant. You’ve just stumbled across something amazing.. Are you ready?
Beneath this you will find the eight rules to help you fill this book.
a) i. an Indian elephant of a pale color that is sometimes venerated in India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Myanmar.
b) ii. a property requiring much care and yielding little profit.
iii. an object no longer of value to its owner but of value to others.
